The movement is deeply linked to philosophical movements that are intertwined within the re-awakening of the High Church and the growth of religion in Victorian Britain. All the aspect of the exterior and interior from concepts, dimensions, and structure of the building were intended to convey a theological message, but what message did they want to get across?
We have seen that they looked back at the Medieval Gothic style for inspiration. Why?
Simply because they believed that their architecture and designs were the product of a purer society. This was a concept they wanted to create within in their streets mostly due to the fact that they believed that they were the most powerful and brilliant country in the world and thus wanted to use architecture to express their greatness. The style was expressed most powerfully, and was emphasized towards awakening the emotions and spirits of the Victorians, this can be seen by examining the High Gothic Victorian buildings, a vast number resemble the Church structurally, as well as in terms of ornament where they incorporated the Cross symbol.
The massive High Victorian Gothic structures depict universal order, they achieved this in a number of ways; firstly through the use of mathematical and geometrical construction, and secondly through the expression of nature in its most identical form that creates structural symmetry, this concept creates unity within the exteriors and interiors.

When you look at a Victorian building the enormous size of the can be seen from the exterior structure and felt within the interior walls. The Victorian Gothic's built to impress, they believed that the pointed arch was a product of the Catholic faith and it is found in a vast number of buildings, constructed in either glass or stone. They used the pointed arch to increase the height of the interiors, creating a sense of aspiration towards the sky above.
Sculptural decoration, stained glass, motifs, mosaics and so on are the building blocks that construct the interiors of the buildings. These were all also inspired by the Medieval Gothic churches and were used to depict the wealth and greatness of the inhabitants of the beautiful buildings. Often, a lot of intricate details were carved in to the structure they were usually crowded into compact spaces, a technique used to create a luxurious feel within the building, demonstrating their underlying rationality and logic in designing the spectacular buildings.
