So far we have already established the fact that the High Victorian Gothic Style was an Eclectic Style...but...
What is the philosophy behind an Eclectic style?
It is as is simple as this: to combine elements or particular styles from different time periods and different origins within a single project. The word was first brought into play by Johann Joachim Winckelmann, where he used the work of Carracci who created his paintings by combining two distinct styles;classical tradition with the elements of Renaissance.

One would think this would look rather chaotic and arbitrary, but on the contrary to my surprise, electric style is a harmony-like style.
Thus, concluding that eclectic style is a combination of styles in order to design an environment, which would have a great look, artistic taste, and a specific connective element, which would make the whole design look as one piece of work.
The main concept behind and Eclectic style is to express your "identity" to reveal your "taste" and thus create things, and wasn't this the whole idea of the Victorian Era to create things!
Well you have to also consider how such different elements could create one thing, it would have taken lots of thought, creativity and effort.
In Interiors this can be achieved by mixing a couple of features, such as furniture, color, fabric and finish, which can make eclectic style as one amazing and completed piece of art. This art gave the world many examples of creating something extraordinary yet equally appealing to the eye of an artist and just to a passerby.
