Oh those amazing Victorian Designers and Architects, molding Britain into a wonder to behold.
They had a different idea of how they could improve the lives of the citizens, as well as transform their cities.
They wanted to express the nobility and grandeur of their magnificent civilization, their ideas transformed the design world for decades on end.
It is important to understand how and where all this change begun!
As you already know by now Britain was a very powerful nation and when they built the world would look on and be inspired. Victorian Britain became a port for mass trade and production, this in turn increased the wealth of the already prospering nation. They were motivated by money, rivalry, power and ambition.
From my point of view this is great inspiration.
The Briton's got a chance to travel the world and see new and exciting places, thus expanding their culture. They would then bring back little pieces of these places: objects or ideas!
This fueled their imagination and well, they had the necessities required to fulfill their every desire. The Industrial Revolution gave the architects and designers a chance to adopt and apply new materials and technologies creating treasures that are still a part of our lives today.
